Post Adding Sugar, soda and sugared drinks to compost piles
on: August 12, 2013, 04:14 PM

We use fruits and vegetables mixed with mulch for our compost piles. We also have seperate compost using horse and cow manures.

How will adding sugars, like soda water or sugared teas, affect our compost? I would think the extra carbs should heat up the piles quicker, will it add any nutrient or harm micro-organisms?’

Has anyone used refined sugars in their compost piles?
